William
Grover (1865-1866)
We have recently
discovered that Charles Grover had a hitherto unknown son -
a boy who was named William was born in December 1865 and
died on 6 January 1866 at Chesham, Bucks. His existence was
revealed in the 1911 Census which asked how many children
were born alive, still living or who had died. Charles and
Elizabeth answered 3 born, 1 living and 2 died.
They also had a son
Charles Henry born in 1881 who only lived for only five
months. Infant mortality was higher in those times but the
Census question must have been painful reminder to them.
